The manual contains an overview of the UNDRIP, modules on nine thematic areas and one module on practical advocacy skills. It also contains key points on the realities faced by indigenous communities in their efforts to exercise their rights and to gains respect for these.
This manual is by no means comprehensive but gives basic information to understanding the rights of indigenous peoples as provided for by the international human rights instruments, including the UNDRIP.
This manual is a work in progress. It shall continue to be improved and enriched through the conduct of actual trainings, and also through the continuing struggles and advocacy work of indigenous peoples.
