The Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Defenders Network (IPHRD Net) is supported by the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) of the European Union to strengthen the network for the promotion and protection of human rights of indigenous peoples in Asia.
The project entitled “Strengthening the Network of Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Defenders for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Asia” involves the collaboration among the AIPP Regional Secretariat, and AIPP members and partners in eight countries namely: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines and Thailand. EIDHR supports the capacity-building of community-based human rights defenders to be able to document human rights violations and to do advocacy at the national, regional and international arena. It also supports the enhancement of the organisational and financial management of the partner organisations. A dedicated fund, IPHRD Fund, for support to IP HRDs at risk is provided to enable the HRDs to continue their human rights work.
